Panic Mode?

The Habs remain winless at home in the 2011-2012 season and despite everybody in the locker room taking a calm demeanor after the overtime loss against the Maple Leafs on Saturday, GM Pierre Gauthier made what some see as a panic move, or in others words, moves that show some sort of panic installing in the GMs' mind.  The Habs sent recently returned Brock Trotter along with a 7th round draft pick in the next year's NHL entry draft for center Petteri Nokelainen and minor league defenseman Garrett Stafford.

Cammalleri Returns

Michael Cammelleri has been cleared to play and will return to the Habs line up later tonight. Cammelleri missed the last 3 games due to a laceration to his leg suffered during the first period of play against the Winnipeg Jets on October 9th 2011. The Habs have not won a game in Cammeleri’s absence and are hoping that he will provide a spark, especially on the power play when the team faces off with the Pittsburgh Penguins later this evening.

Habs recall Palushaj

The Habs managed to spoil Winnipeg's huge "homecoming party", but lost Michael Cammalleri in the process and as a result, have recalled forward Aaron Palushaj from the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL.  Cammalleri, who is expected to miss the next two weeks with a lower body injury, managed to score the first goal in last night's game, and the first goal against the returning Jets team.

Gauthier claims new center

The Montreal Canadiens have claimed Center Blair Betts today in an effort to balance out their bottom two lines. At 6’3, 210 lbs., Betts will bring much needed size down the middle for the Habs and he also brings his penalty killing expertise along with him. Betts should provide to be a suitable replacement for former Hab Jeff Halpern and hopefully he will allow Tomas Plekanec to spend more time in the attacking zone.

Plaushaj demoted, Engqvist Promoted

The Montreal Canadiens announced today that the Swedish centreman Andreas Engqvist will get another chance with the big boys for the second time this season.  The Habs signed the 6'4", 197 lbs centreman in July 2009 to a three year contract.  He has played 62 games with the Hamilton Bulldogs this season and has accumulated 21 points (8 goals, 13 assists) during that time.  He has also played two games with the Montreal Candiens in mid-January against Anaheim and Ottawa and averaged ten minutes per game of ice-time.

Montreal Recalls Dawes and Palushaj

The Montreal Canadiens announced today that they have recalled Nigel Dawes and Aaron Palushaj from the Hamilton Bulldogs presumabely because of the injuries to Tomas Plekanec and Jeff Halpern suffered in last night's game against the Washington Capitals.
