Triple Crown – HiD Prospect Report: Week 8

The good news is it took the Hamilton Bulldogs exactly two months to have their worst week of their season, but the bad news is they haven’t been getting enough production offensively. The last 6 games have been one-goal games which could have gone either way. In week #8, the Abbotsford Heat, the affiliate of the Calgary Flames, the Peoria Rivermen, the affiliate of the St-Louis Blues, and the Chicago Wolves, the affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers visited the Dog Pound for a date against the ‘Dogs.

Wolves had the bigger bite as they defeat 'Dogs 2-1

After losing 2-1 last night against the Rivermen, the ‘Dogs (14-6-1-3) fell again on Saturday evening by the score of 2-1 in the hands of the Chicago Wolves (12-13-1-0) at the Copps Coliseum. For the first time this season, Hamilton has lost two games straight and are losers in 3 of their last 4 games.

'Dogs come out short against the Rivermen

The Bulldogs (14-5-1-3) were beaten by the Peoria Rivermen (15-7-1-1) by the score of 2-1 in a battle of two of the hottest teams in the AHL. The Rivermen came into Hamilton winning their last 5 of 6 games while the ‘Dogs had won their last 4 of 5 games. These two teams were also two of the lowest teams with the least amount of goals against.

Pacioretty can’t keep the spotlight away – HiD Prospect Report: Week 7

Hamilton put an end to their road trip this week against the bottom-dwellers of the East Division. Opponents tend to elevate their game when an elite team such as the Bulldogs comes into town. Nothing would be better for their fans than beating one of the best in the league. The Adirondack Phantoms, the Binghamton Senators, and the Syracuse Crunch were all able to keep the ‘Dogs to a one-goal game this week.

Pacioretty too hot to handle for the Abbotsford Heat

The Hamilton Bulldogs (14-4-1-3) needed  a shootout to defeat the Abbotsford Heat (12-9-0-3) 3-2 on Wednesday night in a rematch of last year’s North Division Final. The duo of Pacioretty and Desharnais are a match made in heaven as they continue to frustrate opposing teams. Pacioretty scored a pair of goals for the ‘Dogs while Desharnais assisted on both of them.

AHL Player of the Month: Max Pacioretty

The American Hockey League announced today that Montreal Canadiens prospect and Hamilton Bulldogs winger Max Pacioretty was named the AHL player of the month for the month of November.  Pacioretty led all AHL scorers with 10 goals and seven assists in 13 games and helped the 'Dogs reach the top of the Western Conference with a 9-3-0-1 record. 

Hamilton ends road trip with a 3-2 loss

The ‘Dogs (13-4-1-3) played their final game of their 6-game road trip this afternoon against the Syracuse Crunch (7-10-1-3) and were looking to go 5-0-0-1 but came out short as the Crunch defeated the Bulldogs 3-2. Their PK unit which has been one of the best in the league was their kryptonite as they surrendered 3 power-play goals out of 5 chances.

The Hamilton Bulldogs held on to a 1-0 lead to defeat the Binghamton Senators at Scotiabank Place, home of the Ottawa Senators. The only goal was scored in the third period by the Russian prospect, Alexander Avtsin. The last time these two teams squared off in this arena was on Nov.8, 2009, the Baby Sens fell to a 1-0 loss against the ‘Dogs.    

Max Pacioretty keeps on rollin’

The Hamilton Bulldogs beat the Adirondack Phantoms, the affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, by the score of 3-2 on a fight filled game on Wednesday night. The HiD First Star of the week Max Pacioretty, continued to frustrate opposing teams as his 2 goals helped the ‘Dogs get their 4th win in 5 games. Andrew Conboy scored his 4th of the year which proved to be the game winning goal. Curtis Sanford was
bombarded with 41 shots, stopping 39 pucks for his 7th win of the season.

Pacioretty is ready - HiD Prospect Report: Week 6

It was a solid week for the ‘Dogs as they got back on track to their winning ways. In week #6 of their season they squared off with their provincial rivals, the Toronto Marlies not once, not twice, but three times in just 6 days. The rivalry between these two teams took a new chapter this week. It also marked the first of two of the longest road-trips of the season beginning with the Rochester Americans.
