Desharnais gets a one-way deal

Filed Under:

It was a busy Monday for Montreal's GM, Pierre Gauthier.  After announcing the signing of Max Pacioretty to a two year deal, the Habs finished the day with another announcement, the signing of diminutive center, David Desharnais to a two years deal.  As per the club policy, Habs did not release the terms of the contract, but according to the sources, Desharnais will earn a total of $1.7 Million in the next two seasons, that is $750,000 for 2011-2012 and $950,000 for 2012-2013 season.

Desharnais out, Weber unconfirmed

It has been all but confirmed that rookie forward David Desharnais will not be part of the lineup tonight as the Habs take on the Boston Bruins in an elimination game at the Bell Center in Montreal.  After taking a 2-0 lead in the series, the Habs lost three straight games, including the first two at the Bell Center to give the Bruins a 3-2 series lead.  While the Boston Bruins may end up making franchise history if they win tonight and become the first ever Bruins team to win a series when down 2-0, the Habs are just not ready to give up.  Case in point: the Canadiens held a

Desharnais & Wisniewski take therapy days

The Habs were at the Complex Sportif Bell in Brossard today with both ice rinks occupied, but without the rookie forward David Desharnais and defenseman James Wisniewski.  In what may end up being the last practice at the Complex sportif for the team, both players were excused for "therapy" reasons.  For the Habs though, it's 2009-2010 playoffs all over again.  They will be facing an elimination game tomorrow at the Bell Center against the Boston Bruins in what promises to be an exciting game and if the puck bounces their way, they may end up returning the follo

Lapierre traded, Desharnais recalled, Habs making the moves

The Canadiens are making the moves.  After trading for defenceman James Wisniewski earlier in the week, the Habs recalled centerman David Desharnais from the Hamilton Bulldogs earlier today and traded forward Maxim Lapierre to the Anaheim Ducks for defenceman Brett Festerling.  The Habs have been on their longest road-trip this season and are playing the last game of that trip tonight against the Florida Panthers.  The road trip has not gone well for the Habs and they have won only one game out of 6 so far.  These recent failures have brought the deficiencies, that were

Canadiens recall Max Pacioretty

A day after recalling centerman David Desharnais from the Hamilton Bulldogs, the Montreal Canadiens surprised everybody again with the announcement that Max Pacioretty will now be joining the big club. The 6'2", 208 pound, 22 year old winger is no stranger to the NHL and has played 86 games with the Habs during the last two seasons recording a total of 25 points (6 goals, 19 assists).   So far this season, Pacioretty has played 27 games with the Hamilton Bulldogs and is tied for first on the 'Dogs and tied for second in the AHL with 32 points (17 goals, 15 assists).

Canadiens recall Desharnais

After losing to the Detroit Red Wings last night, the Montreal Canadiens turned to their farm team for some reinforcements recalling David Desharnais to replace the injured Scott Gomez.  Gomez missed last night's game with a mysterious lower-body injury  and is expected to miss tonight's game as well against the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Waffle land.  Many expected the Canadiens to recall Desharnais or Max Pacioretty after Gomez was expected to miss the game in Motor City but the Habs instead opted to use Dustin Boyd.
