Michael Cammalleri

Cammalleri Returns

Michael Cammelleri has been cleared to play and will return to the Habs line up later tonight. Cammelleri missed the last 3 games due to a laceration to his leg suffered during the first period of play against the Winnipeg Jets on October 9th 2011. The Habs have not won a game in Cammeleri’s absence and are hoping that he will provide a spark, especially on the power play when the team faces off with the Pittsburgh Penguins later this evening.

Habs recall Palushaj

The Habs managed to spoil Winnipeg's huge "homecoming party", but lost Michael Cammalleri in the process and as a result, have recalled forward Aaron Palushaj from the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL.  Cammalleri, who is expected to miss the next two weeks with a lower body injury, managed to score the first goal in last night's game, and the first goal against the returning Jets team.

Hot Price cools down the Jets’ engines

Fifteen years after leaving the province of Manitoba for the desert heat of Arizona, the Jets found their way back to Winnipeg.  The fans longing for a NHL team since its departure packed the arena and the streets, joined by the Prime Minister Stephen Harper, celebrated the return of hockey in this Atlantic province.  The Montreal Canadiens, a team with countless fans in Western and Atlantic Canada, were invited to be part of this historic moment marking the return of the Jets.  While we are used to seeing the Canadiens being cheered west of Toronto, this game gave a feeling

Habs sign Campoli as depth move

The Montreal Canadiens have signed defensemen Chris Campoli to a one year contract worth 1.75 million dollars. A native of North York, On., Campoli played 77 games with Chicago and Ottawa last season tallying up 21 points in the process. This move will lead many to speculate that Andrei Markov may need longer to recover than originally expected or that maybe the coaching staff is feeling a little uneasy with their defensive core. Either way, Campoli should be a solid addition with his 6’0, 190 lbs. frame and his 6 years of NHL experience.

IIHF plucks a few Habs

The 2011 IIHF World Championship will begin shortly and as teams from the NHL get eliminated slowly, the international teams are trying to bring the talent from the NHL into their roster.  With the Habs now eliminated after a heart-breaking defeat against the Boston Bruins in game 7 overtime, it's time for some of the talented Habs players to go and represent their countries.  The big names from the Habs include among others Tomas Plekanec, Andrei Kostitsyn and Yannick Weber.

Habs recall Ryan White

The Montreal Canadiens continued to deplete the Hamilton Bulldogs after the injuries suffered in the game against the Buffalo Sabres last Tuesday.  After announcing the callup of Andreas Engqvist yesterday, the Habs announced earlier today that Ryan White will be joining the team in Ottawa for tomorrow's game against the Senators at the Scotiabank Place.  Ryan White had an extremely impressive pre-season with the Habs and many speculated that he might remain with the team as he was one of the last players to be sent down to the Bulldogs.  The 22 years old, 6 feet, 198 lbs

Cammalleri not on the team bus

Montreal's sniper Michael Cammalleri, who left  Saturday night's game against the Boston Bruins in the middle of the second period, will not be accompanying the team on their way to New York for a matchup between the Rangers and the Habs tomorrow night.  While the exact nature of his ailment has not been provided, it's to be assumed that he is either battling with a flu or a gastrointestinal virus which forced him to leave Saturday's game early.  Danish Prospect Lars Eller, who had been a healthy scratch for the last three games, was seen playing alongside Tom

Lineup changes against the Penguins

Habs will have to make room for Michael Cammalleri who will be returning to the lineup after serving his one game suspension. It seems likely that Mathieu Darche will sit out as a healthy scratch to make room for the star winger.
