Habs vs Bruins 1st round match-up highly likely!

With a new season set to begin on Thursday, it’s once again time to make my predictions on who will finish where in the eastern conference after all 82 games have been played.  The off-season saw many teams sign free agents and swap players in hopes of improving their chances at making the playoffs. The following article will give you a brief recap of what these teams have done over the summer and my thoughts of why I believe they will finish in the following sequence.

No. 1: the Washington Capitals

The Finals!

What’s worse than the Habs losing to the Bruins in round one? How about the Bruins making it to the finals?  Well as it happens, to the chagrin of most Habs fans, Claude Julien’s Bruins are getting a crack at the cup. The most aggravating thing is that the Bruins are not even that good of a hockey team. Sure they have a few good forwards and whether we like it or not Chara is a difference maker but this is a team that has proven time and time again that when a team plays good hockey against them they simply don't know how to react.

The Conference Finals

So let me get this straight, Tampa Bay runs over Washington for the sweep, Boston does the same against Philly and two teams that have a history of underachieving advanced to their conference final. If we learned anything from round two, it’s that predicting playoff games in today’s NHL is getting harder and harder. At least I can say that I have taken the lead among my fellow HID writing staff going 2 for 4 with 1 perfect series in round two.

One step closer

Following a grueling first round that saw four of the eight series being decided in game seven and out of those four, two needing sudden death overtime to find the winners, eight teams advanced to the next round in their quest for the big prize.  While I expected few upsets in the first round, the top four teams with the exception of Anaheim in both the conference advanced in their respective Conference semi-finals.  I had personally picked Anaheim to beat Nashville, even though I was not completely convinced about Anaheim’s goaltending.  With Nashville’s weak off

Round 2 Predictions

I am happy to say that I was 5 for 8 with 2 perfect series called with my first round predictions finishing second among the HiD writing staff. Only fellow HID writer Mitin Patel out predicted me going 6 for 8 with 2 perfect series. I am sad to say that the Habs are out and they won’t get their rematch with the Capitals. I am even sadder about the fact that my wife kicked my butt with her first round predictions going 6 for 8 with an astounding 4 perfect series.  Needless to say I need to pick it up if I am going to regain my hockey dominance in the household.

The road to Lord Stanley

After a long and grueling season filled with many disappointments and many surprises, 16 teams finally achieved their goals of making it to the playoffs.  Every team had their ups and downs marred with injuries, winning and losing streaks, hoping to make it to the post season.  The hockey fans feel their blood pumping; feel the adrenaline rush flowing through them with each goal being scored.  This is the time when everyone forgets the path they took to be where they are.  All of the teams start from zero knowing they are only 16 wins away from reaching that ultimate pri

First Round Predictions

The real hockey starts now, forget what happened in the last 82 games that your favorite team played, what will happen now is what matters the most, as that long season was just a warm up, a way to get these players ready for what's to come.  Nothing's more exciting in Montreal than playoff time, poolers are out in strength and everybody is making their picks, so here's another Habs fan making his picks for the 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Habs or Bruins?

Are you ready? I will repeat, are you ready for the playoffs? I know I am. This is everybody’s favourite time of the year when it comes to hockey and it always makes it that much more enjoyable when your team is in the dance. This year’s edition will not disappoint, as once again, our beloved Montreal Canadiens have a date with the big bad Bruins. Out of the entire first round match-ups, this has to be the most anticipated of the bunch, followed by Vancouver /Chicago.

Another season is upon us so of course we all know that means it's time to make our prediction of where the Habs will finish come seasons' end. Now in order for us to predict where the Habs will finish we have to determine where the other teams in the Eastern Conference will finish as well.
