In a surprise move, showing some desperation, the Montreal Canadiens shipped injured defenseman Jaroslav Spacek to the Carolina Hurricanes in return for Tomas Kaberle.  Spacek who has been out of the lineup since November 14 due to an upper body injury had started skating with the team but had not been cleared for contact as of yet.  Drafted 117th overall in the 1998 draft (5th round) by the Florida Panthers, he has played 846 games in the NHL and has recorded 343 points so far in his career. Panic Mode?

The Habs remain winless at home in the 2011-2012 season and despite everybody in the locker room taking a calm demeanor after the overtime loss against the Maple Leafs on Saturday, GM Pierre Gauthier made what some see as a panic move, or in others words, moves that show some sort of panic installing in the GMs' mind.  The Habs sent recently returned Brock Trotter along with a 7th round draft pick in the next year's NHL entry draft for center Petteri Nokelainen and minor league defenseman Garrett Stafford.

Cammalleri Returns

Michael Cammelleri has been cleared to play and will return to the Habs line up later tonight. Cammelleri missed the last 3 games due to a laceration to his leg suffered during the first period of play against the Winnipeg Jets on October 9th 2011. The Habs have not won a game in Cammeleri’s absence and are hoping that he will provide a spark, especially on the power play when the team faces off with the Pittsburgh Penguins later this evening.
